Last night, the Hispanic Democratic Committee of Westchester presented a painting by Women’s Art Power member Melissa Noah entitled, “Mother and Son Refugees Walk Off,” to New York State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins.
The evening was truly remarkable. First, Andrea Stewart Cousins is quite a presence. She spoke eloquently to the Committee about what she and the Democrats are doing in Albany to bring about important changes in New York. Thereafter, the Committee unveiled Melissa’s artwork and presented it to Andrea Stewart Cousins.
She was surprised and extremely pleased to receive the painting. They intend to frame it and add plaque indicating that it is a gift from Hispanic Democratic Committee of Westchester. People from the Committee engaged with the artist after the presentation to tell her how they read her piece as related to their immigrant stories. It was a very touching evening.

Thank you also to Sunny, Michelle and Donna for being there with Melissa to experience this incredible evening!
